Thomas F. Leake

Senior Pastor-Teacher at Hope Bible Church in Columbia, Maryland

The Start

I entered into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ through the ministry of Inter-Varsity while in college, where I met my wife and lifelong friend, Susan. After graduating, I taught in Christian schools for 10 years, served in my local church in a number of capacities, and earning a Master of Arts degree in Theology from Capital Bible Seminary. Later, my family and I moved to Southern California while I attended The Master’s Seminary, where I earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1997.

Church Plant

While in seminary, the Lord impressed on me the need for planting strong Bible-preaching churches—particularly in Maryland—so I returned there in the summer of 1997 to help establish Hope Bible Church along with a core group of believers. I have truly seen the Lord work in planting Hope Bible Church… growing its leadership, deepening the walk of God’s people, and even extending the church’s influence in the region. By God’s grace, Hope Bible Church was used of God to plant Baltimore Bible Church in the summer of 2013.

Grace Advance Mid-Atlantic (GAMA)

I also serve on the Board of Directors for Grace Advance Mid-Atlantic, a fellowship of like-minded churches in the Mid-Atlantic region. It is my passion to see God work through Word-Driven, Dynamic-Body churches, where doctrine is placed into the life of the local church, and the Holy Spirit works fruit through Christ’s body to the glory of God. I am always amazed that the Lord can transform sinners such as myself, to bring glory to His matchless name!

Current Ministries

Currently, my primary ministries are expository preaching, teaching, discipleship, guiding ministry development, and supervising the planning and development of Sunday worship services and celebration of the Lord’s Supper. My other focus is on developing leaders and helping all the members of the congregation to become mature co-laborers in Christ.

Family

My wife Susan and I have four blessed children: Hannah, Grace, Faith, and Josiah.
